SAX FOR MELODY came into existence as the reply to a challenge by a friend to make a track with a saxophone solo in it. I took up the challenge and in my mind at least, went one better by not only putting in a sax solo, but choosing to use a MIDI SAX keyboard sound to play it with! The MIDI SAX preset being a joke amongst most keyboard players for being a truly terrible sound ( no offence to saxophone or MIDI SAX preset lovers, it was all just intended to make my friend laugh. )
On top of this I made the story about a local nightclub me and the challenger used to frequent when we lived in London circa 2010 called, The Boogaloo in Highgate ( Mod and Soul and Indie music disco each weekend, you know the kinda place ) There we danced to tracks by The Tom Tom Club and 80s band The Farmers’s Boys, all name dropped in the lyrics of course! Then we meet a girl named, Melody, who confesses her ambition is to be in an indie band, but doesn’t play guitar, drums or synths, but plays the Saxophone. We dance more, drink more, then get chucked out around 2am by the overzealous bouncers and never see each other again!
